Paula M. Shugart, President of the Miss Universe Organization, announced that the 25th Annual Miss Teen USA(R) Competition will be held in Pasadena, California. The event will be held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on August 24th, 2007 and broadcast live nationwide on NBC at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Located at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains, Pasadena is just 15 minutes north of downtown Los Angeles in sunny southern California. During the pageant period, friends, family members and fans are expected to visit Pasadena and millions will tune-in to watch the live telecast.
Montana native, Katie Blair, Miss Teen USA(R) 2006, spent her reign this past year traveling the nation as a spokesperson for various teen issues as well as participating in numerous community service projects around the country.
Blair will crown her successor at the conclusion of the two-hour primetime telecast, before an estimated viewing audience of 250 million. Each contestant from all 50 states and the District of Columbia will be judged in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview. The show will conclude with one girl ultimately being crowned Miss Teen USA(R) 2007.

 A beauty queen promoting internet safety as part of her pageant campaign has reportedly been blackmailed with photos of her lifted from social networking site Facebook.
Amy Polumbo, a 22-year-old university student who was crowned Miss New Jersey in June and is now a Miss America contestant, says an anonymous person sent two sets of photographs and typewritten letters to Miss America and Miss New Jersey pageant officials last week.
Despite not being particularly risque, the photos could affect Polumbo's public image in the run up to the Miss America pageant. They feature her drinking with friends, and in various clothed but provocative poses.
In one photo, she is seen in a limousine, wearing blue jeans with her legs spead in the air. In another a man she identified as her boyfriend poses with his mouth over her covered left breast.

THERE SHE is, Miss America. Well not yet and maybe not ever. Miss New Jersey claims she is being blackmailed: Either she relinquishes her crown or embarrassing photos will be released. The latest scandal to hit the beauty pageant world is a reminder to young people: Be careful what you post online. Amy Polumbo, the reigning Miss New Jersey, has been making the media rounds telling the public that the still unreleased photos do not show her doing anything untoward -- no nudity, pornography or underage drinking. Polumbo says these are photos from college days.Her lawyer says it's the captions accompanying these photos that are compromising. Since we have not seen the photographs, it is impossible to know whether the photos, the captions or the combination is damaging. What is clear is that pictures posted on the Internet -- even to sites users believe are only accessible to friends -- have a life of their own.
