As the countdown to the finals of Pantaloons Femina Miss India begins, TIMES NOW took a walk down memory lane and profile all those women of substance who created history.
They're gorgeous, graceful and women of substance. The Femina Miss India's down the years have been a cut above the rest and the woman who served as a traiblazer for many was Reita Faria, the first Miss India who went on to make history winning the Miss World crown for the first time in 1966.

Dutta, who was Miss Universe 2000, has been in Auckland promoting Indian guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's Art of Living meditation and breathing programme along with box office winner Kunal Kapoor.
She told Fairfax Media it was important for her sanity. "I got exposed to a world I was not quite ready for at quite a young age," she said, noting she became Miss India and Universe aged 22. She also became a United Nations goodwill ambassador and found herself involved in campaigning against female infanticide in her homeland. "I have seen first hand, met the people, and these are things really hard to digest," she said. "At some point in time, coupled with the pressure of being an actor, a young actor, and being moderately famous and having your life out there for everybody else to scrutinise, it really does get to you sometime."
