A send-off reception in downtown Princeton Friday afternoon will allow the community a chance to wish Katrina Giannini well before she heads to California to compete for the title of Miss Teen USA.
Giannini, crowned Miss Teen Kentucky USA in November, leaves Sunday for Pasadena, Calif., and the Miss Teen USA competition.
A reception will be held for her from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Taylor building, located on East Court Square next to the Art2 gallery.
Giannini will spend the 12 days before the Aug. 24 pageant final rehearsing, making appearances and competing in preliminary rounds.
The first week will be devoted to photo shoots, fittings, rehearsals, “and a little sightseeing,” she said.
Preliminary swimsuit and evening gown competition is set for Sunday, Aug. 19, and interview competition will be held the following day.
The 25th annual Miss Teen USA competition will be televised live on NBC at 7 p.m. local time Friday, Aug. 24.
It is expected to be the last Miss Teen USA pageant televised live on NBC, Giannini said.

Photos and interviews of each contestant will be featured. After preliminary competition, videos of each contestant in swimwear and evening gowns will also be available.
