Miss Trinidad and Tobago New York The Eleventh Annual Miss Trinidad & Tobago New York will be held Sunday, October 14, 2007, 7PM, Klitgord Auditorium, New York Technical College, 285 Jay Street, Metro Tech, Brooklyn.
The show will feature 12 young women, some born in the U.S. and others who migrated or are international students of Trinidad & Tobago heritage studying in New York.
Produced by Renee Cummings, Miss Trinidad & Tobago New York promises a spectacular showcase of contestants in four couture catwalk categories, carnival costume, talent, and evening gown. The opening will pay tribute to the work of rehearsal director Jerry Brown who celebrates his 10 year anniversary with the organization.
From a domestic violence survivor to a young woman in search of the Trinidadian heritage she was denied, this year's line-up of contestants for Miss T&T New York 2007 are as diverse as they are beautiful and talented.
Forensic science, actuarial science, pharmacology, pharmaceutical technology, medical billing, information technology, automotive mechanics, hospitality management, finance, urban planning, business management, marketing, psychology, nursing, and criminal justice are some of the areas of study being pursued by contestants in a contest that strives to show there is nothing more beautiful than an educated woman.

MEET THE CONTESTANTS:
1. Amber Brennan, 17, Miss St. James, is a high school graduate on her way to college to pursue a degree in Forensic Science. Brennan is using the pageant to connect to a cultural heritage she was denied and to find a part of heritage that is missing.
2. Anastacia Moore, 23, Miss Belmont, is an aspiring soca music artist. A graduate of Moulton Hall Methodist and Success Laventille Composite, she recently released her debut single "Rain." She owns a medical billing company.
3. Carlana Ramlochansingh, 26, Miss St. Augustine, is a graduate of St. Augustine Girls' High School, Trinidad. A research scientist at John Hopkins, Washington D.C., she is pursuing a PhD in Pharmacology at Howard University.
4. Chaelle Silva, 21, Miss Trinicity, is a graduate of St. Joseph's Convent, St. Joseph, Trinidad. A foreign student, she is a Presidential Scholar at St. John's University pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science.
5. Felicia Smith, 21, Miss Tobago, attends Brooklyn College; majoring in Finance, Business Management and Urban Planning. She teaches high school, works as a bartender and promoter at night, and sells real estate. She hopes to open a non-profit organization to provide scholarships to Caribbean youth in New York.
6. Jodi Lezama, 20, Miss Gasparillo, is a graduate of Williamsville High School and Stephenson High School, Stone Mountain, Georgia, USA. Her passion is auto mechanics. She loves fixing cars and is pursuing a degree in automotive technology. She plans to follow in her father's footsteps and open a automotives business.
7. Kristin Balladin, 19, Miss San Fernando, is President of the Caribbean Students' Association at Bergen Community College, New Jersey, where she is pursuing a degree in Hospitality Management. She also loves cooking an aspires to become a celebrity chef. 8. Maylaine Durant, 20, Miss Claxton Bay, is a senior at Hampton University, Virginia, studying psychology. Her love is medicine and plans to attend medical school in Cuba then travel internationally working in less developed nations as a medical doctor.
9. Nakita Rodriguez, 17, Miss Sangre Grande, is studying Pharmaceutical Technology and hopes to return to Sangre Grande to open a pharmacy and offer free medicine to children in need.
10. Nikeisha Sutherland, 28, Miss Port of Spain, works in a IT company and goes to school at night. A former member of the St. John's Ambulance Brigade, Trinidad, she is pursing a BA in Nursing. 11. Nikeysha Lewis, 23, Miss Laventille, has an associates degree in Information Technology from Bronx Community College. An All-American high school track star she received a scholarship to Florida International University.
12. Petal Mc Cree, 27, Miss Point Fortin, is a paralegal with the City of New York. After undergoing a brain biopsy, she lost vision in her right eye. A graduate of John Jay College of Criminal Justice she will soon enter law school and specialize in disability rights.
