MISS WORLD CONTESTANTS VISIT THE PULANNA FACTORY |

From Tianjin it was a 40 minute drive to the famous Pulanna natural herbal cosmetics and pharmaceutical factory, where the contestants were welcomed in a blaze of colour by women dressed in traditional costumes waving white handkerchieves and a large and equally colourfully clad band. It was a highly impressive sight. All the contestants, Julia Morley, the Pulanna chairman and the reigning Miss World posed for a large group photograph before a ceremonial tree planting took place. Several contestants used spades to put earth around the newly planted 'Beauty Tree', commemorating the Miss World visit.

A tour of the factory followed, with all the contestants required to put on a pink or white coat and wear indoor shoes. It was fascinating to see the workers, all similarly clad, checking and packing the products behind glass windows. A second building housed large tanks and cylinders where the products themselves are manufactured, while in a third many of the finished products were displayed in showcases. /missworld.tv
