SCI President and CEO Steven Casciola personally interviewed Ms. Shugart, as well as the recently crowned Miss Universe 2007, Riyo Mori, and Miss USA 2007, Rachel Smith. “I was impressed to hear how Donald Trump was so personally involved,” he said, “not only in selecting Paula as president, but in the finer details of assuring MUO continues to grow and empower women.”
When Ms. Shugart first joined MUO in 1998 it was as Vice-President of Production. Impressed with her work, Mr. Trump named her president in 2001, despite having never actually met her.
In her interview, Ms. Shugart recalled that, “I'd never met Mr. Trump before, and he said he’d give me a chance to prove myself. He was going to give me a few months. I guess it worked out.”
Upcoming is the 2007 Miss Teen USA pageant, scheduled to air Friday, August 24th, on NBC.
