Photographs of Miss New Jersey's college hijinks might not seem like enough to knock the crown off her head, but there's plenty of evidence to show that the world wants its beauty queens untainted by even a whiff of scandal. Miss New Jersey USA, Ashley Harder, resigned in January because she was pregnant. Harder, a model from Marlton who was part of the CW Philly 57 crew, is due in August. When news of her pregnancy broke, Harder said she planned to marry the baby's father, her live-in boyfriend.
Miss Nevada USA, Katie Rees, was bounced from the pageant after snapshots of her flashing her thong, baring her breasts and kissing another woman appeared online. Rees blamed the dated photos on an underage lapse in judgment.
Last December, Mothers Against Drunk Driving severed ties with Miss Teen USA Katie Blair after news reports that the 18-year-old Montana woman had been seen partying with another beauty queen in New York clubs.
And Miss USA Tara Conner was caught in underage drinking in New York bars. Pageant owner Donald Trump allowed her to keep her crown after she agreed to enter rehab. She later acknowledged being an alcoholic and dabbling in cocaine. In 2002, Miss North Carolina, Re-bekah Revels, resigned after her ex-boyfriend threatened to disclose topless photos of her. _ Vanessa Williams stepped down as the first black Miss America in 1984 after Penthouse magazine published nude photographs of her shot several years earlier. Williams went on to major success in films and music - she has sung on Broadway, released Grammy-nominated albums and snagged countless roles on TV and movie screens. She earned a star this year on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and currently stars in the hit sitcom "Ugly Betty." /Philadelphia Daily News
